Leading for Wellness
With lots of uncertainty surrounding health, this is an ideal time to pause and take stock of how we really look after ourselves. Yes, this is a bit of a cliché but equally, there are many self-proclaimed well-being ‘experts’ on social media, each with miracle, get rich fit/healthy quick misconceptions. However, optimum wellness is a thorough and ongoing process where a well-balanced diet is just a beginning; the interplay of nutrients, internal body systems, physical movement and environment is the continuum.
Optimum wellness is simply giving yourself the best possible care to allow your body to be as healthy as possible and to work the best it can. It is not a set of rules. For example, you do not have to be vegan, vegetarian or take supplements, or avoid eating particular foods, although for some individuals such advice may be appropriate and is advice your doctor will give.
Wellness needs are individual and depend on a whole range of factors including genetic strengths and weaknesses right up to the effects of your current environment. General ideas are helpful in supporting overall wellness and DO NOT, under any circumstance, replace seeking advice from a medical professional.
